Hyundai Motor America needed to replace an aging management system that had been outdated, and in some cases corrupted, for years. This system tracked the progress of Hyundai employees and affiliates throughout their careers - the courses they took, the certifications they achieved, and their work history. The proposed solution was a new Learning Management System (LMS) for Hyundai Motor America. The difficulty with replacing a system that had been in use for quite some time was made apparent when looking at data that was inconsistent, duplicated, and sometimes missing. In addition to that, Hyundai decided to maintain personnel management in a tried-and-true AS400 database, even with the new implementation of the LMS.

In conjunction with Pacific Technology Solutions of Irvine, CA, the members of Diradis were able to architect a feasible solution for migrating tens of thousands of user accounts, some that had been duplicated due to name changes, transfers, or even purely by accident. This new LMS was successfully released nationwide to Hyundai management, dealership affiliates, and employees in July 2009. Thousands of accounts were succesfully moved without incident. The Diradis members built the tools to effectively manage accounts which had corrupted or modified data when there was no programmatic way to distinguish between user accounts.

Project Highlights

• Successful migration of nearly 20,000 user accounts from an aging database to a new, more efficient structure.
• A new MS-SQL database architecure, C# mid-tier, and Adobe Flex front-end combined in one seamless package.
• On-demand reporting with real-time data, all with the capability of exporting to Microsoft Excel.
• ASP.NET / C# management system, with accurate logging and audit trails, allowing Hyundai management to easily view and modify end-user related data.
